What is the cyber advisor scheme?

Cyber security is difficult, and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) often don’t have the time, money, or staff to get it right. The Cyber Advisor scheme – launched by the NCSC – is a targeted consultancy service designed at an assured industry standard so that SMEs can benefit from trusted, cost-effective, and if necessary, hands-on technical advice.

Cyber Advisors will focus on assisting organisations to implement the five technical controls of Cyber Essentials that the NCSC confirm mitigate most high volume, low-skill attacks perpetrated through the internet, including ransomware attacks. For this reason, one of the easiest ways to make the UK more secure is to help organisations to implement the technical controls at scale.

As part of this programme, Cyber Tec Security has passed an independent assessment demonstrating our knowledge and understanding of the technical controls, and our competence in doing practical, hands-on IT configuration and support, working with small organisations.

“This new scheme offers validation that our advice is truly independent, agnostic to any vendor or product and designed around delivering the basic and core requirements of every organisation’s Cyber Security. Not only is the standard designed to raise the security bar, but also, generally achieving this without excessive cost. You can spend a fortune on ICT security, systems, services, and software, but sometimes, your risks are merely around basic requirements, which often, no software will solve but changes to processes or configuration achieve a significant risk reduction.”
